From Concept to Creation: How Our Cat Statues Come to Life

Ever wondered how our big cat statues go from an idea to a finished piece in your home? Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the process!

Step 1: The concept

Every statue starts with an idea. I sketch the design on my iPad in Procreate, focusing on the colours and key details. These drawings aren’t intricately detailed, but they help bring the vision to life and serve as a guide for the next stage.

Step 2: Sculpting the First Model

Once the design is ready, I send it to our manufacturer, where a skilled sculptor begins shaping the statue from clay. They send me progress photos and videos and we work together to tweak the details. This can mean adjusting the shape, refining features and ensuring everything looks just right.

Example of how the mold looks!

Step 3: Creating the Mold

Once the clay sculpture is finalised, a mold is made from it. This mold is what allows us to produce multiple statues while keeping every detail consistent.

Step 4: The First Sample

The first statue is cast using the new mold, and the airbrushing process begins! The factory paints it according to my original design and sends photos for review. If adjustments are needed (maybe the colour isn’t quite right or a detail needs tweaking), we fine-tune it until it’s perfect.

Step 5: Final Approval & Photography

Once the painted sample is just right, it’s sealed with a clear gloss finish and shipped to me for final inspection. This is the piece you see in our photoshoots and presale launches; a true first edition of the design!

From that first idea to the final statue, every step is done with care to ensure each cat is as stunning as I imagined.

I love sharing this process with you and I hope it makes you appreciate your statues even more . They are created with love and care every step of the way!
